Anderson Blog Post 4: Origami and Kendama
Konnichiwa!
Today, I had the chance to make Origami and try out Kendama at the cultural fair in the Hesburgh Scholars Lounge! It was interesting trying Kendama, and it could be challenging as you try more skilled moves, as Fuse Sensee demonstrated. Origami was fun and relaxing, I made two shurikens during my time at the table. Overall it was a very positive experience!
Sayoonara!
Konnichiwa Anderson-san. I was also there at the culture fair at some point and I for sure agree with you that the Kendama gets harder as you try to do cooler skills with it. I also thought it was a fun experience too and I can't wait to go to more cultural events.
ReplyDeleteKonnichiwa Anderson-san. I think a big part about learning Japanese is not only the language but also the culture, which is why I'm quite appreciative of this department in facilitating social events. I'm glad you were able to learn something new about Japanese culture and art. That sounds like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteKonnichiwa Anderson-san. Thanks for sharing your experience at the cultural fair! Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend, but I have had the chance to practice origami as well as the Kendama because my family hosted Japanese exchange students when I was younger. The older girls would bring toys and things from Japan for us; I wasn't very good at the Kendama, but they were very patient while I practiced! I'm glad you were able to experience a fun part of the culture.
