Anderson Blog Post 1: My First Blog entry

 Hello! 

My name is Jack Anderson. I am a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame studying Global Affairs and Real Estate in Louisville, Kentucky. I live on the third floor of Sorin College. I like to spend time with friends, watch movies, and fly in my free time. I'm a Private (hopefully soon to be commercial) pilot, so I spend most of my time that isn't spent on school or working out, studying for a new license, and also flying! 

I chose to study Japanese as I will be studying abroad in Tokyo at Sophia University in the spring of 2025. Before going, I should at least have a basic knowledge and understanding of the language and culture. Also, I love to watch anime and read manga, so knowing some Japanese will open some doors there!

    Hello Jack. Nice to meet you. I think your career goal of becoming a commercial pilot is really cool? When did you start learning how to fly? Are you affiliated with ROTC at Notre Dame? Also, I would like to wish you good luck in Tokyo next semester. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun.

    Hi Jack! That's pretty cool that you fly in your spare time, is there a place you've been able to do that around here? Also, since you mentioned movies, do you have a few favorites? I'm a big LoTR fan myself. Good luck with your preparations for your studying abroad, sounds like it'll be super interesting.

 Konnichiwa! Today, I had the chance to make Origami and try out Kendama at the cultural fair in the Hesburgh Scholars Lounge! It was interesting trying Kendama, and it could be challenging as you try more skilled moves, as Fuse Sensee demonstrated. Anderson Blog Post 2: AOT episode 1

My favorite anime so fa r is Attack on T itan (進撃の巨人). I found episode 1 online; here is the link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSNWdlHuVsA. This show brought me into Japanese culture, and this, being the first episode, really shows what is to come throughout the show. I watched it subbed in English and dubbed in Japanese, so hearing the language impacted how I try to speak it now. Also, it includes many cultural gestures and mannerisms that I would not have found if I hadn't watched the show. It is fantastic, and if you have the time, I recommend watching the whole series.  Jack Anderson
